I started my fire career in 1979 in So. Calif.
During my career I worked on a wildland engine, Haz.Mat. response team, Handcrew Captain, POST certified Law Enforcement officer,, Battalion Chief, Accident investigator, Operation Section Chief on IMT#1, Safety Officer, Division Chief and Fire Chief.

In December 2017 the Thomas Fire burned 281,893 acres, destroyed 1063 structures and damaged 280 structures and had 2 deaths. In July of 2018 the Mendocino Complex burned 459,123 acres and destroyed 280 structures and had 1 death. Also in July 2018 the Carr fire burned 229,651 acres and destroyed 1604 structures, and had 7 deaths.
The Camp fire of November 2018 was a tragic loss of life with 86 fatalities,18,804 structures destroyed and 153,336 acres burned. This fire burned down the entire community of Paradise CA
